Joint UK-Japan symposium on medical imaging and artificial intelligence

This one-day symposium was jointly organised by the Academy of Medical Sciences and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS).

Status: Completed

On Tuesday 23 January 2018, the Academy of Medical Sciences and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) jointly held a symposium on medical imaging and artificial intelligence (AI).

The aim of the meeting was to bring together leading experts from Japan and the UK to discuss the current research landscape of medical imaging and the contributions of artificial intelligence to this field. The meeting also provided an opportunity to reflect on the regulatory and ethical considerations needed to support the effective and impactful adoption of such technologies.

The symposium was followed by a reception, hosted at the Japanese Embassy, to discuss funding opportunities and ways to facilitate greater contact and collaboration between the UK and Japan.

The programme and Powerpoint presentations are available to download from the right-hand side of this page. A short news article summarising the event is also available here
