In October 2010, the Academy's FORUM held a roundtable focusing on research and development of medical products and the importance of regulatory science to the healthcare portfolio.
In 2011, the Academy worked to ensure that NHS reforms generated an education and training system that enables the NHS to nurture future research leaders.

The Academy worked with Public Health England to ensure that the new public health structures in England are underpinned and evaluated by a sound evidence base
In 2012, the Academy held a roundtable discussion on strengthening research in public health with Dr Tom Frieden, Director of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and previously Commissioner of the New York City Health Department.
