HEFCE consultation on an international REF

The Academy has submitted a response to Higher Education Funding Council for England’s consultation on internationalising the Research Excellence Framework.

This consultation sought preliminary views on likely challenges and benefits of an international process, and our response was informed by several Fellows many of whom had experience with the process both in the UK and with similar assessment processes aboard. The overall sentiment favoured further exploration of models for implementation, but noted particular concerns including the burden of cost and the value of assessment outputs.
