The Animals in Science Committee (ASC) is an advisory non-departmental public body that provides independent advice on the use of animals in research to the Home Office. 

In February 2014, the Academy and the Society of Biology jointly held a meeting to give Dr John Landers, Chair of the ASC, the opportunity to discuss the committee's work and its engagement with the research community with an audience of researchers.
