Rejuvenating ageing research

A report by the Academy of Medical Sciences highlighted the urgent need to understand the connection between the underlying process of ageing and the causes of age-related disease.

Launched

The Academy has undertaken an number of projects looking at the science of ageing.

In 2004 the Academy was invited to respond to the House of Lords Select Committee on Science and Technology inquiry into the ‘Scientific Aspects of Ageing’.

In 2009 the Academy released a report of a working group study entitled 'Rejuvenating ageing research'. The report by highlighted the urgent need to understand the connection between the underlying process of ageing and the causes of age-related disease.

In 2012 Academy Fellow Professor Linda Partridge CBE FRSE FRS FMedSci gave the Raymond and Beverly Sackler Distinguished Lecture in the Medical Sciences on the Science of Ageing.
