Healthcare 2030

The Academy is currently scoping a possible project which takes a holistic view of what a sustainable healthcare system and its workforce will look like in the future, and how we can achieve this. It stems from concerns about the risk of collapse of the NHS and the associated ‘existential threat’ to UK biomedical and health research, which has been raised by Fellows and in our stakeholder perception survey. The plan is to take a future view - at least as far as 2030 - to avoid responding to current budgetary and political issues.
