SciComm Breakfast: The Departure Lounge

08.30, Wednesday 05 February 2020

The Academy invites members of the science communication community to a free sci-comm breakfast about its recent public engagement project The Departure Lounge.

We’ll be sharing how the Academy worked with creative agency The Liminal Space to open a pop up shop to enable conversations between researchers and the public about death and dying.

We’ll share our experiences working on the project, what we learnt about attitudes to death and dying and how the project impacted on the visitors and the researchers involved. Click here to view a short video about the Departure Lounge.

Speakers:

  • Nick Hillier, Director of Communications, Academy of Medical Sciences
  • Amanda Gore, Creative Director, The Liminal Space
  • Emily Scott-Dearing and Emily Pegram, project evaluators

Three short talks will be followed by a Q&A. Breakfast available 08.30-09.00, talks and Q&A 09.00-10.00
