We will also be celebrating the achievements of two new Academy Fellows elected from the North West in 2018: Professor Jørgen Vestbo FMedSci and Professor Paula Williamson FMedSci, who will introducing themselves with short talks. Attendees will also be given the chance to get to know the incoming North West Regional Champion, who will have just taken up their new position.

Attendees are also welcome to join the Academy's free career development event beforehand, Standing Up for Standing Out. This careers event with a comedy workshop is designed to empower early career researchers to stand up and get their research noticed. Fellows attending this Networking evening are encouraged to promote Standing Up for Standing Out  to their networks of early career biomedical and health researchers and are invited to bring a junior colleague with them to the evening reception.

This event is free to attend.

Our regional events aim to increase connections amongst Fellows, raise awareness of the Academy’s work amongst the broader biomedical community, and facilitate engagement between the Academy, the Fellowship and local early careeer researchers.
