HIVE alumni programme launch event with Professor Jonathan Van-Tam MBE FMedSci

The first ever event for our new alumni network, HIVE, is open for bookings. 

We are delighted to welcome all former Academy grant awardees and careers programme participants to our first event HIVE alumni showcase and networking event. 

This virtual event is open to everyone who has previously held a grant from us, or been part of one of our career development programmes, over the past 20 years, including researchers from all over the world through our international grants. You can join us from wherever you are based in the UK or around the globe.

Our speakers will be Professor Jonathan Van-Tam MBE FMedSci, Deputy Chief Medical Officer for England throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and Professor of Health Protection at the University of Nottingham. Professor Van-Tam will be joining us in conversation with the Academy of Medical Sciences' President Professor Dame Anne Johnson PMedSci. There will be opportunities to interact with the speakers and following the discussion, we will also run through what our new HIVE alumni programme can offer and host a networking session for attendees. 

The event will run for two hours from 10.00am to 12.00pm (BST) on Tuesday 21 September 2021.

This event is only open to alumni of the Academy.

10.00-10.05       Welcome by the Academy’s Executive Director, Simon Denegri

10.05-10.15       Introduction to HIVE by Dr Charlotte Summers, Reader in Intensive Care Medicine at the University of Cambridge, and Professor Peter Bannister, Healthcare Chair at the Institution of Engineering and Technology. Both Charlotte and Peter are members of the Academy's FLIER leadership programme.

10.15-10.25       Demonstration of the HIVE portal, and an introduction to future activities
