Reproducibility and reliability of biomedical research

The Academy of Medical Sciences held a symposium to explore the challenges and opportunities for improving the reproducibility and reliability of biomedical research in the UK. The report of this symposium was published in late 2015.

Medical Innovation Bill

In 2014, the Academy monitored the passage of the Medical Innovation Bill, submitted a response to the Department of Health's consultation and produced a number of briefing notes with partner organisations including the AMRC and Wellcome Trust.

Health of the public in 2040

From 2014-16, the Academy undertook a project exploring how the UK’s research environment needs to adapt to meet the health challenges the population will face by 2040. This piece of work is now being revisited in light of the COVID-19 pandemic and changes to the UK's public health structures.

Government Science and Innovation Strategy 2014

The Academy is providing input into the Government's Science and Innovation Strategy 2014, including the consultation on long-term capital expenditure.

NICE Implementation Collaborative

The Academy was previously a member of the NICE Implementation Collaborative (NIC), a group that aimed to understand and analyse the barriers that exist to the implementation of NICE recommendations.
