Party Conferences 2016
Following on from joint UK research and innovation events in previous years, the Academy of Medical Sciences, the British Academy, the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Royal Society hosted a series of joint roundtable meetings at the Labour, Conservative and SNP 2016 party conferences attended by parliamentarians, Academy Fellows and other stakeholders.
The discussions, titled "Open for business: a nation of global researchers, innovators and industrialists" aimed to engage policymakers, researchers and industry on how to ensure the UK provides the most attractive environment for international researchers, innovators and investors, to deliver a more prosperous future for the UK.
Professor Graeme Reid, who chaired each of the three events, has written a short blog post offering some reflections on the key themes heard during the discussions.
The Academies produced a fact sheet on UK research and innovation, to support the discussions. This is available to download from the right side of this page.
