Diabetes & obesity: getting to the heart of the matter

The Academy of Medical Sciences and the Royal Society of Edinburgh hosted a horizon scanning meeting in May 2010 to review contemporary findings in the obesity-diabetes 'epidemic', with an emphasis on the implications for future developments.

The Academy of Medical Sciences and the Royal Society of Edinburgh hosted a horizon scanning meeting in May 2010 to review contemporary findings in the obesity-diabetes 'epidemic', with an emphasis on the implications for future developments.

The meeting brought together researchers working at all levels across academia, industry and the health service to discuss topics including epidemiology and genetics, disease mechanisms, novel imaging approaches and new therapies and interventions.

A report of the symposium has now been published.
