Ukraine invasion: Academy of Medical Sciences statement

Professor Dame Anne Johnson PMedSci, President of the Academy of Medical Sciences, said:

“The UK Academy of Medical Sciences is shocked and saddened by the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which is an attack on human rights, democracy and freedom. In light of this, we support the Federation of European Academy of Medicine and InterAcademy Partnership’s calls for solidarity with the people of Ukraine, including their biomedical researchers and scientists, and all those connected to them.

“It is critical that, in this time of crisis, the global research community stands together and upholds academic freedom and opportunities for scientific cooperation. We continue to work with partners in the UK and overseas to explore ways to support colleagues impacted by the conflict.”
