Safer medicines

While current methods of safety evaluation of drugs have been largely successful, the pharmaceutical industry and academic researchers can improve the safety of medicines further by making more use of recent advances in scientific understanding, growing information networks and large patient databases.? Doctors should communicate more effectively with patients around the risks and benefits of medicines, and regulators must work to achieve greater public engagement with drug safety issues.
