The Academy is seeking nominations for an exceptional individual to succeed Professor Mike Malim FRS FMedSci who will step down from his role in December after four years as Vice-President (Non-Clinical).
The successful candidate will play a key leadership role for the Academy by proactively engaging with, and representing, the priorities of the non-clinical research community with a particular focus on those working in biomedical research. Over half of the Academy's Fellows have a non-clinical background - as well as many hundreds of early career researchers who benefit from our careers programmes and grants schemes each year and this community is increasingly involved across all our activities. It will be vital that our new Vice President (Non-Clinical) is able to work with this diverse community to ensure it has a clearer and stronger voice in the future.
A letter from the Academy President, Chair of the Academy’s Nominations Committee - which oversees the appointment of Honorary Officers, is available on this page. A role description (including information about the election process) and a nomination form are also available to download.
The Academy is committed to equity, diversity and inclusion and encourages a wide range of nominations for its governance roles. Suggestions and expressions of interest are welcome from any Fellow and should be sent, in confidence, to Professor Dame Anne Johnson at [email protected] . Read our top tips article on 5 things all Fellows can do to support diversity in decision-making at the Academy.
Fellows wishing to discuss the role further are invited to contact Professor Dame Anne at the earliest opportunity.
The deadline for receipt of completed nominations is 31 July 2022.
Council will elect the next Vice President (Non-Clinical) at its October meeting.
