Do you want to know more about careers in academic surgery?
The Academy of Medical Sciences is hosting a sub-session at the Society of Academic and Research Surgery (SARS) Annual Meeting in Durham.
The session, to be Chaired by Professor Dion Morton FRCS, will provide a forum to discuss the potential impact of the Shape of Training review on the academic surgical career path, and discuss opportunities and challenges for surgeons pursuing a research career in the UK.
Speakers are as follows:
'Academic training and mentoring in surgery' - Miss Lorna Marson, Senior Lecturer and Honorary Consultant Transplant Surgeon, Transplant Unit Royal Infirmary Edinburgh
'Perspectives on the Shape of Training review' - Professor Peter Hutchinson, Professor of Neurosurgery, NIHR Research Professor, University of Cambridge
