SUSTAIN Inspiring Women Evening

18.30, Thursday 07 March 2019

41 Portland Place London

Marylebone W1B 1QH

Join us for the launch of SUSTAIN 2019, the Academy's flagship programme empowering female researchers to thrive in their independent research careers.

We will be holding an evening dinner reception at The Academy of Medical Sciences’ headquarters in Central London on the evening of 7 March, as part of the programme's residential workshop. This will be a chance for the participants to network with senior leaders in the sector, meet previous cohorts, and celebrate their successes so far.

This year, we are proud to announce our newest partner on the programme, the Royal Academy of Engineering. This partnership will enable women from across the spectrum of science, engineering and medicine to take part in SUSTAIN.

All SUSTAIN mentors and funders are invited to join the SUSTAIN participants from rounds 1 and 2, the SUSTAIN reference group members, female leaders in science, and colleagues working on similar initiatives, for a reception to celebrate the launch of the third round of the programme.

Dinner will be provided.

Please note that this event is by invitation only, but if you would like to attend and have an interest in developing talented researchers, email ruth.lowe@acmedsci.ac.uk.

SUSTAIN was created in response to a mounting evidence base showing that not enough female researchers in science secure senior leadership positions in the UK. It is a unique programme in the UK that provides a group of 24 female researchers with a fantastic opportunity to benefit from a year-long programme of individualised support tailored to their career needs, as well as building cross-discipline cohorts who act as a support network to one another far beyond the end of the programme.
