The Spine

2 Paddington Village Liverpool

The Royal Society and The Pandemic Institute joined us to bring together science, industry and government representatives from the North-West region for an invite-only workshop. The aim of the workshop was to discuss the key role Liverpool’s civic leadership, academic institutions and health infrastructure played in developing an agile public health research response during the COVID-19 pandemic. We also discussed the lessons learned internationally to prepare for future pandemics.

Professor Tom Solomon, VP International of the Academy of Medical Sciences and Director of The Pandemic Institute chaired the event. It also included panel presentations by Professor Louise Kenny, University of Liverpool, Mark Proctor, AstraZeneca, Dr Jahangir Alom, UK Young Academy, and Professor Iain Buchan, University of Liverpool, followed by a discussion with workshop attendees.
