Academy of Medical Sciences London

41 Portland Place W1B 1QH

On 9 March 2018, the Academy's FORUM and the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) hosted workshop to discuss ways to improve integration across the preclinical and clinical boundary.

This workshop convened senior representatives from across academia, industry and the NHS, as well as funders, regulatory bodies and commissioners, among others, to discuss the challenges to, and opportunities for, better integrating preclinical and clinical research. The workshop examined the scope for improving the two-way evidence exchange across this boundary to better inform preclinical and clinical research, including in the context of the research and healthcare infrastructure, workforce and skills and the research and development pathway. The workshop was co-chaired by Professor Geraint Rees FMedSci, Dean of the UCL Faculty of Life Sciences , University College London and Dr Chris Powell, Vice President, Translational Medicine & Comparative Pathobiology, GlaxoSmithKline. A summary report of the meeting will be published following the workshop.

This meeting took place on 9 March 2018, and was by invitation only. For further details please contact forum@acmedsci.ac.uk.
