The Academy of Medical Sciences aims to act as a catalyst for other organisations hoping to start their own mentoring schemes.
The Academy holds workshops on setting up and running a mentoring scheme, facilitated by Alexis Hutson, Coaching Doctors. These 'catalysis' workshops focus on the key questions to consider when designing a scheme, as well as the core elements of successful mentoring schemes. Case studies from the Academy and other schemes are explored and there is ample opportunity for sharing best practice and discussion. This is a free event and all are welcome to attend.
The next workshop will be on Wednesday 13 September 2023 at the Academy, 41 Portland Place, London. You can register for the event here or by following the 'Book Now' link on the right hand side under 'Mentoring Catalysis Workshop 2023'
Our Mentoring programme has been the catalyst for several mentoring schemes in academic institutions in the UK, including:
- Imperial College London, Faculty of Medicine
- University of Manchester and North West Deanery
- King’s College London Cross-Departmental Postdoctoral Mentoring Programme
We are always delighted to hear when a new organisation or institution - especially within academia - starts up a new mentoring scheme. Do get in touch and let us know how your scheme is progressing.
