How to apply
To apply to an Academy grant scheme, please use Flexi-Grant, the Academy's online application system. You can download a user guide for Flexi-Grant from the right hand side of this page. In addition, you may download a template application form for the scheme you wish to apply for from the scheme’s webpage when a round is open for applications.
Our schemes are aimed at early to mid career researchers and many of the applications we receive are from researchers writing their first grant. With this in mind, we have put together a series of top tips to help you prepare your grant application and, if applicable, for your grant panel interview:
- 10 tips for writing grant applications
- 10 tips for writing a lay summary
- What does a great lay summary look like? Real examples from successful grant awardees.
- Top tips for presenting your research effectively
Remember to allow plenty of time to complete your application and gather the necessary approvals. If your proposed research involves animal experiments, we encourage you to consult the NC3Rs Experimental Design Assistant to help you design your study. Please familiarise yourself with the Academy's policies and concordats which may be relevant to your application.
Please contact us as early as possible if you have any questions about our awards; staff leads for each scheme are identified on the scheme’s webpage.
