Dr Ruth McKernan, Senior Vice President at Pfizer and Chief Scientific Officer at Neusentis, delivered the Academy’s 2013 Annual Forum lecture to a diverse audience including Academy Fellows and representatives from academia, industry, NHS, regulatory bodies and government departments.
Dr McKernan explored the current challenges for the pharmaceutical industry, and the opportunities for change, focusing in particular on precision medicine. The lecture was followed by a discussion regarding the 'Attributes of good academia-industry-NHS collaboration models' led by a panel from academia, industry, the NHS and research funders.
