Academy response to Queen's speech

The Queen’s Speech included a draft bill to modernise adult care and support in England and the Academy welcomed the announcememnt that the Government will bring forward draft legislation to establish Heath Education England and the Health Research Authority on a stable and independent footing.

Professor Sir John Took PMedSci, President, Academy of Medical Sciences said, 

We welcome the announcement in the Queen’s speech that the Government will bring forward draft legislation to establish Heath Education England and the Health Research Authority on a stable and independent footing. These two bodies will help ensure the UK has the workforce and regulatory framework to deliver maximum health and wealth benefits from research.
 
We look forward to continuing to work with Government on the development of these bodies.
