Susan Michie, Professor of Health Psychology at University College London, is an acknowledged leader in using methods and theories from behavioural science to improve health and well-being. She has applied this science to the implementation of research findings into policy and practice, which requires behaviour change at many levels. Her work on the psychological impact of genetic testing has brought methodological and theoretical rigour to the field of understanding behaviour change and developing behavioural interventions, with innovative tools and frameworks such as the Behaviour Change Wheel. These have been foundational to the public health work of NICE, and are widely used across Government departments, both in the UK and internationally.
