Ruth McKernan is Chief Executive of Innovate UK and has had a distinguished career in medical science, largely through the pharmaceutical industry where she has made significant contributions. Her enthusiasm for stem cell research has led her to pioneer this field in the pharmaceutical industry, building the first multidisciplinary, collaborative team within Pharma that explores how stem cells can be used as tools in drug discovery.|Her expertise in regenerative medicine has been applied broadly in the UK and she is a Council member of the Medical Research Council and sits on the Board of Cancer Research Technology. Ruth is also an active participant in the public debate in building the medical/technology industry in the UK. |
