Owen Sansom is Deputy Director of the CRUK Beatson Institute in Glasgow. A researcher working on genetic mouse models of cancer, he has made remarkable contributions to our understanding of epithelial biology and cancer formation in vivo and he has become an internationally renowned leader in this field. Professor Sansom has also produced important data on the normal functions of cancer genes such as Apc which may have implications for regenerative medicine, and was central to creating a world leading pancreatic team in Glasgow building upon his groups’ work on pancreatic cancer.
