Jackie Hunter is Chief Executive Officer of the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council. She has made major scientific contributions to neuroscience research and development within the pharmaceutical industry and has had a broader impact across industry and academia, for example playing a pivotal role in establishing the European Innovative Medicines Initiative. She led efforts within SmithKlineBeecham and Glaxosmithkline to discover and develop medicines for serious neurological disease. She is recognised as a thought leader in the area of open innovation, and whilst at GSK, she championed the vision for the Stevenage Bioscience Catalyst. Her expertise in open innovation and experience in academic industry partnerships were one of the key reasons that she was appointed the CEO of the BBSRC.
