Danny McAuley is Professor and Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine at Queen’s University, Belfast. He has delivered sustained, excellent contributions to medical sciences over the last 20 years, specifically in Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) and acute respiratory failure. His contributions have increased the understanding of the mechanisms of ARDS to identify new treatments, and he is active in COVID-19 research leading the REALIST-COVID and RECOVERY-Respiratory Support trials. Professor McAuley has shown true leadership in promoting critical care research as Director of Research for the UK Intensive Care Society, and providing mentorship to investigators.
