Rosalind brings extensive leadership experience across the health and life sciences sector. She has led the Government’s Office for Life Sciences for the last four years, bringing together the Government, the NHS, academia and industry to drive improved patient outcomes and economic growth through life sciences. She led the development of the recently published Life Sciences Sector Plan which sets out a bold ambition for the UK to become the third most important life sciences economy in the world by 2035. In her role at OLS she has worked with the Academy of Medical Sciences’ Fellows and partners across the health system; she has been at the heart of driving forward the UK’s most critical initiatives to improve biomedical and health research.
Rosalind began her career as a solicitor working in the City before moving into Government, where she held senior leadership roles on social and economic policy issues, from setting up and running the Sentencing Council, to key roles in the Cabinet Office, the Home Office and in the Department of International Trade. She spent more than six years working as a senior diplomat working on economic issues in Washington DC and Tokyo, including leading the UK’s science and tech teams in both countries.
