Rachel has been at the Academy since November 2021, working in the public engagement team. She works with patients, carers and members of the public to ensure that the policies and research recommendations the Academy make are relevant to the people they're intended to benefit. She is particularly interested in how diverse lived experiences can be incorporated into research and policymaking.

Rachel is also completing an MPhil/PhD in Developmental Biology at University College London. She has a degree in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge. In her spare time, she enjoys baking and crochet and is a volunteer Science Explainer at the Royal Institution.
