SARS

The Academy convened a meeting in London in June 2003 to consider the SARS outbreak. Working group members were invited to take stock of current activity in the UK and worldwide and to identify ongoing concerns and issues for further work. Key issues raised included:

• International data collection
• Crisis management
• Academic capacity
• Regulatory issues
• Horizon scanning
• Role of industry

A further meeting to review the situation was held in November 2003.
