Starter Grants for Clinical Lecturers - Round 20 Awardees

The Academy is delighted to announce the names of 19 Clinical Lecturers who were awarded through Round 20 of the Starter Grants for Clinical Lecturers scheme. Awardees included clinicians in human, dental and veterinary medicine with a wide range of clinical specialities. We were especially pleased that more than half of the awards were awarded to female researchers.

The Starter Grants for Clinical Lecturers scheme has now supported 457 research-active clinicians, conducting a broad spectrum of health-related research, with grants totalling nearly £13 million. The scheme offers funding of up to £30,000 to cover the cost of research consumables. The grants allow research-active Clinical Lecturers in human, dental and veterinary medicine to gather data to strengthen their bids for longer-term fellowships and funding.

We recently celebrated 10 years since the launch of the Starter Grants scheme, and celebrated the success of the scheme and its awardees with our anniversary report:
'Starter for 10: a decade of supporting academic clinical lecturers'.

The next round is currently open for applications and will close on 11 March 2019.

For more information on the names of the new awardees, eligibility and how to apply, please see the Academy's Starter Grants webpage.
