In 2009, the Academy's FORUM held a workshop to showcase the importance of collaboration across academia, industry and the NHS in driving forward innovation in the medical sciences.
The aim of the workshop was to:
• Showcase the importance of joint industry, academia and NHS collaborations.
• Inspire young scientists and raise awareness of the possibilities for collaboration.
• Promote initiatives and funding schemes currently available.
The event was targeted at researchers including clinical academics in training, non-clinical scientists and industry researchers.
Presentations were accompanied by discussion of the strengths and challenges of cross-sector collaboration and an informative session on relevant funding schemes. The report of the meeting is now available.
The Academy is grateful to the generous support of Sanofi Pasteur for this event.
