Nominations open for next Vice President (International)

Professor Tom Solomon CBE FMedSci is due to complete his four-year term as the Academy's Vice President (International) in December. The nominations stage to identify a successor to this key Academy role is now open.

The Academy is committed to equity, diversity and inclusion and encourages a wide range of nominations for all its key governance roles. Expressions of interest are welcome from any area of the Fellowship and should be sent, in confidence, to Professor Andrew Morris CBE FRSE PMedSci at [email protected]

Fellows wishing to informally discuss the role are invited to contact Andrew at the earliest opportunity.

The deadline for receipt of completed nominations is 17.00 BST on Thursday 1 May 2025.

The Academy Council will elect the next Vice President (International) at its June meeting to enable handover of the role to the successful candidate from the early autumn. The next Vice President (International) will formally take office at this year’s AGM on Thursday 4 December 2025.

Eligibility and process:

  • The nomination form is available to download from this page
  • The role is open to Ordinary Fellows of the Academy
  • Nominations may be made by any Academy Fellow for any other Academy Fellow, providing that they have agreed to be nominated
  • Self-nomination is acceptable
  • The nomination must be signed by three supporting Fellows. Electronic signatures are accepted.
  • Candidates are asked to countersign the nomination form to indicate their willingness to be nominated and to include a 300-word statement outlining their background and how they would contribute to the Academy and its future
  • A copy of the candidate’s CV must be submitted with the nomination form
  • Nominations must be submitted to [email protected] by 17.00 on Thursday 1 May 2025
  • Interviews, by a panel of Nominations Committee, will take place in early June (exact date to be confirmed)
