New online grant management system announced, Flexi-Grant

The Academy Careers team has grown rapidly over the last few years, both in staff and in reach.

One example is our new grant scheme Springboard, delivering up to £100,000 each to 19 leading researchers across a range of scientific disciplines. As the number of awards and schemes provided by the Academy grows, the greater the need is for effective delivery.

It is for this reason that we have decided to move to an online system. This will positively impact new applicants and current award holders, streamlining  both the application process and the management of awarded grants. After going out to tender in January 2016, Fluent Technologies came out as the clear choice to deliver an online grant management system to suit the Academy's needs. Fluent Technologies' Flexi-Grant system is currently used by a number of grant-giving bodies including the Royal Academy of Engineers, Imperial College Healthcare Charity, British Ecological Society and the Avast Foundation.

Today's announcement also comes alongside the opening of Round 16 of our Starter Grants for Clinical Lecturers scheme, our first scheme to be delivered using the new system.

Round 16 will open for applications this week with the submission deadline in early September, please check the Starter Grant webpage for more details.

The scheme has produced 315 award holders, totalling £8.9million in funding for clinical research.
