Professor of Neuropsychological Genetics at Cardiff University, Julie Williams has made an outstanding contribution to the advancement of research into the causes of Alzheimer’s disease, heading major international collaborations such as the IGAP consortium. She has been the Chief Scientific Advisor for Alzheimer’s Research UK where she proved to be an excellent advocate for research with the general public and specialist audiences. She was recently appointed Chief Scientific Advisor to the Welsh Government where her responsibilities include providing high quality scientific advice to shape policy, facilitating excellence in research and innovation to the benefit of Wales, and fostering the next generation of scientists from Wales.
