Professor Anna Dominiczak is British Heart Foundation Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Glasgow. Her research focuses on genetic determinants of cardiovascular and cerebral vascular disease. Amongst her important contributions to the genetic analysis of stroke she discovered a quantitative trait locus in the stroke-prone spontaneously hypertensive rat that harbours a gene responsible for the increase vulnerability to cerebral ischaemia.
