This seminar raised awareness of the Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI) amongst the UK academic sector and provided an opportunity to explore how they might become involved.
The IMI is a public-private partnership between the European Commission, through its 7th Research Framework Programme, and the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA). The IMI Joint Technology Initiative will have a budget of 2 billion euros to support biomedical R&D over five years. Investment will be allocated through targeted calls to address current bottlenecks in the biomedical innovation R&D process. Further details can be found at www.imi-europe.org
