Tim Wells is Chief Scientific Officer of the Medicines for Malaria Venture. He has made important contributions to drug discovery over a twenty year career in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry. He pioneered the first crystal structures solved within Glaxo. Building on this experience of protein chemistry, he moved into the field of chemokines. He was one of the first to use the WorldWide Web and human sequence data to find new genes – and this work paved the way for a highly productive period in understanding cytokine biology.
