Steve Halligan, Head of the Centre for Medical Imaging at UCL, is one of the best-known academic clinical radiologists in the UK. His work focusses on the therapeutic impact of high technology imaging platforms in clinical practice rather than the usual technical impact. |While an NHS consultant, his work on MRI in pelvic sepsis impacted directly on patient care and subsequent work at UCL proved him able to deliver large, multi-centre, pragmatic randomised trials of imaging within the NHS. |Professor Halligan is a past President of the British Society of Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Radiology and is President-Elect of the European Society of Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Radiology.
