This was illustrated by his substantial contribution to our understanding of the drivers of vector-borne disease burden, pioneering the use of machine learning to generate the first map of the global burden of dengue disease. He led a program evaluating the impact of malaria interventions in Sub-Saharan Africa, working at the intersection of social sciences and public health, he elucidated the relationship between poor housing and malaria prevention and disease outcomes. Methodologically, Professor Bhatt has developed highly innovative mathematical and statistical frameworks to understand human diseases.
