Stuart Elborn is Pro-Vice Chancellor for Medicine Health and Life Sciences at Queen’s University Belfast. He is an international leader in cystic fibrosis research and its translation into clinical care. The major clinical trials he has led have resulted in transformative treatments for people with cystic fibrosis and new clinical guidelines. Professor Elborn heads international strategic groups addressing major challenges in CF, particularly the huge increase in patient numbers due to improved survival and the increasing challenge of antimicrobial resistance. In addition to his outstanding and strategic academic leadership he also leads the Health and Innovation initiative for the Belfast Region City Deal.
