Margaret Frame is Professor of Cancer Biology and Director of Cancer Research Centre at the University of Edinburgh. She has made seminal contributions to understanding mechanisms of cell adhesion and motility. Her work has made major contributions to understanding cell signalling events in controlling cancer cell migration and invasion. She is at the forefront of developing and testing new strategies for cancer treatment in the pre-clinical setting, combining anti-invasive therapies, and identifying new cancer Achilles heels via detailed cancer biology. Crucially, intra-vital molecular and cellular dynamic imaging technology advancement is permitting direct visualisation of the effects of anti-cancer drugs on cancer cells in living animals.
