Jane Apperley is Chair of the Centre for Haematology at Imperial College London. An internationally acclaimed clinical academic, she achieved her outstanding reputation in two fields of haematology, blood and marrow transplantation and chronic myeloid leukaemia. Her contributions have been consistently impactful, as a Wellcome Fellow in gene therapy at Harvard and as an academic researcher at both University of Cambridge and Imperial. Her group have made seminal observations including the importance of molecular monitoring, mechanisms of TKI resistance, the discovery of the most important prognostic biomarker (early molecular response) and the teratogenic effect of TKI in pregnancy.
