Professor Dorothy Crawford is Professor of Medical Microbiology at the University of Edinburgh Medical School. She has an international reputation for her work in the field of Epstein Barr virus research and the associated effects of viral infection. Her seminal discoveries include the first demonstration of EBV genomes in lymphomas of immunosuppressed patients, and she was the first to demonstrate that the atypical cells in infectious mononucleosis are activated CD8 lymphocytes.
