David Jayne is the international leader in the area of clinical research in anti-neutrophil cytoplasm antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitis (AAV). His research efforts have defined the management of AAV. Jayne took the leading role in coordinating the European vasculitis research community to define approaches to diagnosis and treatment of AAV; he has led the European Vasculitis Study Group (EUVAS) since 1994. He has been the international driving force in clinical research into ANCA-Associated Vasculitis for almost 20 years. He has moulded the current therapeutic approach to the disease through fostering both academic and industrial collaborations. This has resulted in real patient benefit.
