Andreas Melzer is Professor of Medical Technology at the University of Dundee. He has led technological research for minimal access surgery on the design, development, and experimental validation of various instruments. His skill sets combine, in a unique manner, technical engineering skills with clinical knowledge. He was the founding Director of the newly established Institute for Medical Science and Technology involving R&D at the interface of the Life and Physical Sciences. The paradigm established by Professor Melzer at IMSaT focused on synergistic programs of translational research by multidisciplinary groups and was the first of its kind in the UK.
