Professor Adrian Hayday is Kay Glendinning Professor and Head of the Peter Gorer Department of Immunobiology at King’s College London. As a postdoctoral student Adrian Hayday co-discovered the TCR gamma chain which lead to the discovery of an unanticipated third class of lymphocytes, gamma delta cells, conserved for over 450 million years. He has gone on to make many seminal contributions to our understanding of the physiology and pathophysiology of these T cells and is a world leader in the field of mucosal immunology.
