Nicola Curtin is Professor of Experimental Cancer Therapeutics at Newcastle University. She is an exceptional scientist, leader and role model with a distinguished career in cancer research. She made a major contribution to the development of new classes of anticancer drugs, in particular the development of the first PARP inhibitor to enter clinical trial for cancer. The focus of her work is in DNA damage response making a major contribution to the development of drugs targeting DDR. Professor Curtin’s work is the perfect example of outstanding basic science translated into life-saving treatments, imaginative resourcefulness and cost effectiveness.
