Malcolm Macleod is Professor of Neurology and Translational Neuroscience at the University of Edinburgh and is a world leader in improving research quality and reliability, increasing research value to accelerate therapeutic advances. He has identified, developed and tested strategies to reduce major sources of bias, which are now embedded in international research guidelines, open data policies and editorial publication standards adopted by over 1000 journals. His innovative machine-learning data mining has accelerated identification of potential therapeutics from preclinical research through to testing in randomised clinical trials in stroke, multiple sclerosis and Motor Neurone Disease.
